Adult ADHD Self-Screening

Check Your Focus Patterns

Do you have trouble wrapping up the final details of a project once the challenging parts have been done?

This is not a diagnostic tool. Use results only as a reference before professional consultation.

ASRS screens for possible adult ADHD patterns — it does not diagnose ADHD

The WHO ASRS (Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale) is a brief self-screening scale for experiences related to inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity in adults. This test summarizes recurring focus and self-regulation patterns to help you decide whether a professional evaluation may be useful. A high score is not ADHD by itself; diagnosis requires developmental history and multi-source assessment by a licensed professional.

What it measures

Inattention patterns

Difficulty finishing tasks, organizing, sustaining attention, avoiding mistakes, and remembering obligations.

Hyperactivity and impulsivity

Restlessness, feeling driven, interrupting, or finding it hard to wait, interpreted in an adult life context.

Screening ≠ diagnosis

A higher score is a signal to consider evaluation, not a diagnosis. ADHD assessment needs developmental history and more than one source of information.

Frequently asked questions

Can this result diagnose ADHD?

No. ASRS is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. ADHD diagnosis and treatment decisions are made by a licensed clinician through interview, developmental history, impairment review, and evaluation of other possible causes.

Does a high score mean I have ADHD?

No. Stress, sleep loss, anxiety, depression, and environment can create similar difficulties. Treat a high score only as a reason to consider professional assessment.

Can adults be evaluated for ADHD?

Yes. Adult ADHD evaluation should look at current symptoms, whether patterns were present since childhood, and how they affect school, work, relationships, and daily functioning.
