Leadership Style Test

What Kind of Leader Are You?

1 / 70%
As a leader, when team morale is low, you:

Strong leaders are not those with one great style but those who switch to fit the situation

Daniel Goleman described six styles: visionary, coaching, affiliative, democratic, pacesetting and commanding. The point is that none of them is the right answer. A crisis calls for commanding, repairing conflict calls for affiliative, and building consensus calls for democratic. The problem is using only one of them, always.

Where each style fits

When direction is missing

Visionary gives the picture — "come with me". Strong in periods of change.

When people need to grow

Coaching and democratic build autonomy, especially with experienced team members.

When speed is required

Commanding and pacesetting move fast, but used for long they cost you climate and retention.

Frequently asked questions

Can a leadership style be changed?

Leadership is treated as a trainable capability. It is more realistic to start from your strong style and widen the repertoire than to replace it.

Are pacesetting and commanding bad?

No. Crises and deadlines need them. Left as the permanent mode they load the team climate, so they work better as secondary styles.

What if several styles come out?

That is closer to a good sign — it means you respond differently by situation. Look at which situations bring out which style.

Leadership style results are for self-understanding and team conversation. Do not use them as a basis for hiring, appraisal, or promotion.
